Destination Weddings: The Disney Wedding

Following our posts this year on Bride Becky’s planning for her fabulous Disney wedding in Florida, the big day finally arrived and we’re so excited to be able to share her fabulous wedding with you!

Becky and Craig’s big day took place on Tuesday 30th June in a stunning Cinderella themed celebration that truly was fit for a princess. No detail had been overlooked in the couple’s quest for the perfect fairy tale wedding, and you’ll see from their stunning photographs what an utterly happy and beautiful day they had.

We caught up with Becky to find out all about the big day and how she felt about her Disney Wedding.

So, how was the big day??!

“SO AMAZING!!! It was just the most magical perfect day ever!!”

Did you have much to do upon your arrival in Florida in terms of preparations, rehearsals, sorting out, etc?

“We just had the rehearsal the evening before the big day and I dropped some things to my Planner like the guest book and a few programmes. We met with our Wedding Planner at the rehearsal and she went through everything that would be happening on the big day. Disney were so amazing with everything, the whole day ran like clockwork! We were so impressed with everything they did for us!

Tell us all about the wedding day….

“I was awake around 5am! I knew I would be, I was so excited – way too excited to sleep!! I had my girls in my room with my Mum and my Mother-in-Law and we all had our make up and hair done between 8am and 12pm. We then left the hotel in a limo and headed to the Grand Floridian hotel to have photos taken on their very grand staircase!

The bridesmaids then went off in the limo to head to the wedding pavilion and I got into Cinderella’s carriage with my Dad! It was so so so beautiful! I had little girls waving at me on the way – it was so magical I felt like a real princess!

We then got to the Pavilion and we waited in a room until our Planner came to get us all. The ceremony was so perfect!
After the ceremony we had pictures and Craig and I went off in the Carriage again back to the Grand Floridian for our Reception. The food was SO INCREDIBLE! We had a choice of beef and lobster – I had lobster it was the best thing I think I’ve ever eaten!

We then left the hotel about 7.30pm and were taken in a coach to Epcot. We were escorted from backstage Epcot to our private area that we’d had cordoned off to watch the fireworks – we had to walk past members of the public who were in the park as well and I honestly felt like a celeb!! People were taking pictures of us, we had little girls coming up to us asking if I was a princess – it was just amazing!!”

Did everything go to plan?

“Yes, it honestly couldn’t have been a better day! It was the only day whilst we were in Florida when it didn’t rain in the afternoon as well! We were very lucky!”

You had a live webcam feed throughout your ceremony, did this work well?
“We had it live streamed so that everyone back in the UK could watch it. The videographer told us afterwards that we had about 800 people viewing it live which is the most they have ever had!”

What were your biggest highlights from your wedding day?

“Being in Cinderella’s Carriage, seeing Craig’s face when I was walking down the aisle, the whole experience in Epcot watching the fireworks and having our closest friends and family there to share it with us”.

Would you have changed any aspect of the day?

“NOTHING!! It was just perfect”.

Were you impressed with your suppliers?

“Yes, I bugged Disney about having our photographer for 6 or 7 months before the wedding to make sure we got her! I had seen her work on Facebook and she does the most amazing work for Disney and we were so lucky we got her! We could not be happier with our photos, they are breath-taking. The cake was just the way I wanted it – again Disney did an amazing job!! My make up artist team did an incredible job, there were 10 of us to get ready that morning and all 5 of the girls that came were so lovely and did an amazing job!”

Did you get chance during your stay to see Disney World and other attractions?

“Yes we had a day in the Magic Kingdom a couple of days before the wedding. I also had a mini Hen Do in Downtown Disney which is great for bars and places to eat! We also did Epcot after the wedding as well so we could see it properly. We also did Universal Studios – Harry Potter Land is INSANE!! If you haven’t been I recommend it highly!!”

Did Disney make you feel special whilst you were there?

“They treated us so well! They sent flowers and chocolates to our hotel room the day after the wedding which was so lovely of them to do!”

What is your advice to any couple considering a Disney wedding?

“From a Disney fan, I’d say DO IT! It was so beautiful and so elegant I would recommend it in a heartbeat”.

Would you do it all again?

“YES!!! :)”

We’d like to extend a massive congratulations to Craig and Becky on their stunning wedding day, and a big thank you for allowing us to feature it and follow their plans over the past year. We hope you’ve been inspired by the couple’s creativity and confidence in planning a destination wedding, and that our Disney Wedding blog series has given you ideas and advice for the planning of your big day!
